Welcome!

The Portuguese Statistical Society and the Center for Mathematics at the University of Minho are pleased to organize the XXVI Congress of the Portuguese Statistical Society (SPE 2023), which will be held from October 11th to 14th, 2023 in Guimarães, Portugal.
The SPE Congress is the main forum for discussion within the Portuguese Statistical Society, enabling researchers and professionals in the field of statistics from universities, research institutes and laboratories, businesses, government, regulatory entities and official statistics to engage in debate.
The scientific program of the congress includes a short course taught by Pedro Miranda Afonso, from Erasmus Medical Center Rotterdam and co-author of the R package JMbayes2, as well as, four invited speakers. The scientific program also includes thematic sessions and selected presentations (oral and poster).

The participation of students and young researchers is particularly encouraged. Therefore, up to 30 participation grants will be awarded to students for the SPE 2023 Congress (see application instructions here). We would also like to highlight the SPE Prize awarded by the Portuguese Statistical Society for the best work by a young researcher/student (up to 35 years old) in these fields. This prize, worth 1000 Euros, aims to encourage the participation of younger sectors in the activities of the Portuguese Statistical Society.

The competition for the award of the SPE 2023 Prize is open until September 15th, 2023. The formal presentation of the SPE 2023 Prize, along with the winning work, will take place during the XXVI Congress of the Portuguese Statistical Society. (See Regulations)
