Characteristic distribution: An application to material bodies

Let $\overline{\Gamma}$ be a subgroupoid (not necessarily a Lie subgroupoid) of a Lie groupoid. Then, an integrable distribution can be constructed to prove that $\overline{\Gamma}$ can be divided into Lie subgroupoids of $\Gamma$. As a particular case, we can use this construction to prove that any (simple) material body can be separated into (smoothly) uniform subbodies.
