Black holes in Born-Infeld inspired theories of gravity and resolution of space-time singularities

Presenting author: Diego Rubiera-Garcia

A family of extensions of General Relativity called Born-Infeld inspired theories of gravity have shown an extraordinary ability to regularize the gravitational dynamics, leading to nonsingular cosmologies and regular black hole space-times in a very robust manner and without resorting to quantum gravity effects. In this talk we will review one of such theories in relation to electrically charged black hole solutions, and discuss how the problem of space-time singularities can be resolved within it.
