The GRAVITY experiment | recent results on SgrA* black hole

Presenting author: Paulo Garcia

We will present the current status of the GRAVITY experiment on the Galactic Centre supermassive black hole. GRAVITY is the most advanced optical-infrared instrument in a ground-based observatory. It sharpens the light of four giant 8 m telescopes with advanced adaptive optics and them combines it interferometrically achieving exquisite precision. We will conduct a review of past achievements: a) detection of the gravitational redshift; b) detection of material orbiting the innermost last stable orbit; c) detection of magnetic fields in the inner region. We will also address more recent results regarding constraints on scalar "hair" in the vicinity of the black hole and further relativistic effects on the orbit of S2.
