Optical properties of axion backgrounds and black hole superradiance

We investigate the arrival times of photons which pass through superradiant axion profiles around black holes. We show that the coupling of photons to the background scalar induces an arrival time-delay which can also depend on polarisation due to the CP violating nature of the axion-photon coupling.
